What sort of gas station has a 45 minute wait to get in? The one that has some of the best barbecue in all of Kansas City is who. Yep, it was toasty warm but friendly as I stood in queue outside and down the side of the building from 6:00 PM until I had my dinner in front of me at 6:50 PM. That’s some serious waiting, with no chairs and for half of that time, no air conditioning. But it was totally worth it.
There’s menus but you really don’t need to pick one up unless you are seriously undecided. Because there’s another menu mounted as you turn the last corner to place your order. Different meats, different sides. It’s not complicated, folks!
I chose the “Cowboy Dinner” which came with two ribs, smoked sausage, sliced brisket and Texas toast with two sides. Most of this was completely keto-friendly (I took only one bite of the toast) but their sides are lots and lots of carbs. The only alternative was cole slow, so I got two of those (one creamy, one spicy). Cole slaw was good but two sides of it? Whew!
The restaurant is a little loud, they don’t want people saving tables and the line is long. Verdict? The barbecue was worth the wait.
