John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge, Salisbury, MA (11-18-2018)

I love this bridge and thanks to Brian C for adding it as a business!

Originally built in 1951 to connect Amesbury and Newburyport over the Merrimack River, this bridge is just north of Exit 57 and the New Hampshire State Border. It was very recently updated and replaced after spending $318 million and taking five years.

As part of the upgrade project, the bridge was an upgrade. The original was a six-lane bridge and the new one is a pair of bridges that carry eight lanes.

I can only imagine the nightmares that the repair project must have caused but in October of this year, it was all done!
