My first meal in Porto, I was directed to Bufete Fase from a travel blogger who suggested that this was the spot to go for a proper Francesinha. The Francesinha is sort of the “official food of Porto” and it’s definitely a special thing. Bread, meat, more meat, sausage, more bread, then topped with cheese and then a tomato/beer sauce is poured over the whole thing.
This is not a sandwich that you pick up and eat. It’s a knife and fork deal. And it’s delicious. After my Francesinha, I went back to the hotel and slept. It was a LOT of food and Bufete Fase does it well.
There is only one thing on the menu here, the Francesinha. And fries. And beer. They do have sodas as well, but this is a beer sandwich.
Good service and a nice little restaurant. Yum!
